Part of the employee benefits industry for 25 years, David Mitchell has worked closely with consulting firms, insurers, employers and health care providers. As a Vice-President with two of Canada's larger consulting firms, he helped clients with the design, funding and communications of their benefit programs. Prior to starting Wellknit Services Inc., he was a Senior Vice-President with Canada's largest organization providing claims adjudication outsourcing services to many of Canada's leading Group Health Insurers.

| |
| |
Throughout David's career, he has worked with emerging technologies to develop and implement better solutions for employee benefit plans. A few are outlined below.
|
| |
| |
 |
Early in the millennium, he led a team that introduced new technology to provide targeted health education programs to Canadian pharmacy consumers. By integrating several existing technologies and databases, the program was the first of its kind in Canada to statistically measure the success and value of the education interventions.

 |
In the late ‘90’s, David led a team that introduced Canada’s first web-enabled drug plan reporting system to utilize both normalized and comparative data. This service enabled employers to better understand the cost drivers of private sector health care, predict future costs, evaluate the effectiveness of plan design changes and identify health intervention needs and opportunities.
|
| |
| |
 |
In the mid ‘90’s, he led a team that successfully introduced Managed Care to the marketplace. These new adjudication and program alternatives allowed employers to reduce the rate of premium increases by encouraging consumers and health professionals to change their behavior through various pricing strategies and controls.

| |
 |
In the early ‘90’s, David was part of an Executive team that used new technology to offer an alternative to the Insurer’s traditional paper-based Drug and Dental claims submission process. They successfully built Canada’s largest real-time claims adjudication network that provided employers with significantly more plan design alternatives to their traditional drug benefits.

| |
| |
 |
In the early ‘80’s, David led a team that used an exciting new technology (called the Personal Computer) to offer an alternative to the Insurer’s legacy administration systems. This concept changed the business process for brokers and insurers resulting in more flexibility for plan sponsors.
|
| |
| |
By evaluating the data of the different program initiatives available, David realized that traditional plan designs were not meeting the needs of many employers and their employees. Costs were continuing to rise and there was no corresponding improvement in the health or productivity of employees. The current infrastructures were not designed to meet the evolving needs of the community.
|
| |
| |
David started Wellknit Services in 2002 with the objective of leading a series of strategic suppliers to provide an effective alternative for brokers, employers and employees to maximize wellness and productivity.
